Lexus vehicles have plenty of high-end systems and interior features to make your driving experience better. As the high-end automaker of Toyota, Lexus engineering excels at speed, acceleration, and handling when you need it most.
As such, there are plenty of onboard systems that combine to make your drive safer. The traction control (TRAC) and vehicle stability control (VSC) systems work together to deliver the right amount of power to the drive wheels when needed to help you maintain control of the vehicle in challenging situations along Lake Elsinore or Fallbrook roads.
Read on to learn more about what the Lexus VSC light is, and how to perform a Lexus VSC light reset.
It is an indicator light that appears on your dashboard, either with the letters VSC or the car icon with S-shaped marks below the icon, to show that the VSC is active. This normally happens if your car is in danger of skidding or hydroplaning. For example, if you start skidding on a turn to the right, the VSC will help stabilize the vehicle’s traction by optimizing power to the correct drive wheel(s) in an attempt to bring your vehicle out of the skid.
If you see this light come on alongside the Check Engine light, you’ll want to bring your Lexus into our service center to see what the problem is. Our highly trained technicians will check the VSC on your Lexus to make sure it’s working properly.
Yes, you can. You just need to follow a few simple steps.
Why would you need to turn off the system? If your vehicle is stuck in the snow or mud, having the VSC on might make it more difficult to get your vehicle unstuck because the system might continue to turn the wheels to get traction. Having the wheels continue to spin might make the situation worse.
You can also reset the VSC light if needed.
If you have turned the Lexus VSC system off, it should automatically reset when you turn the engine off. Therefore, when you turn on the engine again the VSC and TRAC components should go back to working like usual.
If these systems don’t come back on when you turn off your vehicle and then restart the engine, we recommend bringing your Lexus vehicle into our dealership. Our factory-trained technicians can diagnose the problem and fix it for you.
